LCD screen stays on always

Post by sidecarwilliam »

Thanks for all the help with the ALT light. Today I found a two wire plug under the dash that when unplugged eliminates the Alt light.
The problem is now that the LCD never turns off, even if I plug the wires back together. Never had this problem before. LCD was sealed and worked fine until today.
When I turn on the bike and run it the LCD is lit and seems to work although the time will not adjust. When I turn off the bike the LCD remains on with the incorrect time and it will not adjust. The tape side of the LCD will show different symbols as will the radio. What the LCD shows will differ each time the key is switched on and off.
The real problem is that with the Radio unplugged completely the LCD remains on.
The radio was checked and repaired by Serria Electronics last year.
Any ideas so I can close this thing up and go riding?

Time to pull out the meter and do some checks. You can try pulling fuse 10 and see if it stops. That is the fuse that feeds the LCD ACC line. There is also an ignition positive pin that provides power. One of those might be leaking current through a bad switch.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I think the bike is haunted. It works fine now.
Don't know why and will not ask it now.
Time to ride!

Thanks,
bill.
