What kind of Detail products do you use?
Good afternoon.
Wanted to get some ideas on what to use on the seats, the plastic’s around the dash and things like that.
Also curious about what you use on those rubber covers that but up next to the mirrors.
I the seats feel like vinyl am I correct?

I use VRP, works good.
Made my oxidized switches and dash plastic look good,, the rubber around the mirrors too.
I havent used it on the seat,, I just had it recovered. I got mine at NAPA

Re: What kind of Detail products do you use?
Recently ceramic coated my goldwing and very happy with results. Much better than expectations. Applied to painted, plastics, rubber (its a little hit or miss on some rubber parts) and windshield. Have been using ceramic on all vehicles for years and its been really good. Been trying out graphene coatings and still prefer ceramic coating a little better. They both good really.
Possibly be mistaken but think seat material is naugahyde maybe. Tried 303 on it and it was too slippery. Went back to using meguirs for vinyl seats. Its very glossy, uv protects and not slippery at all (seat feels more grippy). Knock down shine a little with microfiber to preference.
VRP is very good and use as tire dressing. Its water soluable. Tried this on my truck tonneu cover and it bled all over the truck eventually.
Made very questionable decision and used foam cannon on goldwing. Someone talk me into trying it against better judgements. Gave it a try and wont do that again. It worked but its not ideal. My only excuse was bike was really dirty and lots of foam was appreciated. Mr Pink foam wash smells very nice too. Its only time ever foam washed a bike dont know what I was thinking.

Honda Spray Polish/Cleaner. Great price and you can use it on everything on the bike.

I like 303 for a lot of the sun faded plastic bits.

Honda Spray Cleaner is about as good as you can get. Also, Original Bike Spirits Cleaner and Polish but it is over twice the price of Honda Spray Cleaner.

Re: What kind of Detail products do you use?
I will tell you something that I use on plastic, chrome, metal painted tanks, fenders, side covers and such.
Lucas slick mist in a spray bottle. Works wonders.
I try to use this rather than a traditional wash with water. But sometimes you have to.
Still wondering what to use on the seats. I believe they are Vinyl. Am I right?

Re: What kind of Detail products do you use?
I've never tried the Lucas. Being that it's slick I doubt that I'd use it on the vinyl seats. I do use the Honda polish and the original bike spirits on the seat when it's necessary to clean them up.

Re: What kind of Detail products do you use?
No I never use the Lucas on seats.
I reread a previous post and see that someone uses Maguier's for Vinyl on their seats.
I will try that. Have used the Honda in a can, and Pig spit before also with good results.
I have a couple of small tears on my seats. One on the rider's seat bottom and one on the very top of the passenger seat back. That one is right on the seam.
I use a sheepskin pad when I ride for comfort and will not be replacing the seat or covers.
There was something I used a number of years ago that came in some kind of tube that was good for repairing small tears that lasted a while. Nothing for very long term but did work for a while.
Used it on A Voyager 12 with good results.
any one have any ideas?

It uses propane and butane as propellants, and is manufactured in Michigan - so I suspect there might be issues transporting it internationally?
Here is the MSDS listing the contents:
Incidentally, the fragrance they add to it is officially "Pina Colada" just in case you were wondering

Re: What kind of Detail products do you use?
Just used the Honda cleaner polish on the plastics last weekend, great product

Re: What kind of Detail products do you use?
Just a heads up, if your bike has a matte finish like mine, the manual says to NOT use polishing products like Honda Polish to clean your bike. This only applies to the painted areas. I have tried cleaners for matte finishes, but now I just use warm water and a soft cloth.

I use original bike spirits spray cleaner and polish on both my 1100 and 1500, never had a problem with it yet. I'd include a picture but haven't figured out how to here yet.

my 2 cents…Honda spray cleaner is what i’ve used for years…gets the bugs off and buffs to a nice shine…I use it on all parts of the bike…ride safe…

Re: What kind of Detail products do you use?
I'll throw my 2¢ in. When I joined this group some years back I was living in Tampa FL. Down there the bugs are your worst enemy. I was using F11 with great success. Three years ago I moved back home to Colorado's front range and there are several enemies here that are ruthless to your paint, chrome, rubber, and all exposed parts. F11 was working fairly well but I found myself constantly reapplying it. I ride year round so Im getting the salt, sand, road debris, and atmospheric contaminants bombarding me during the cold months and sand, grit, bugs, and road tar during the warm months. Its just a non stop barrage of paint and chrome killers year round. If Im not on the bike its in the garage so sun damage is limited to riding times. Anyway, initially I teamed up with several guys and we bought a bulk supply of F11. Eventually, after moving up here and losing those close-at-hand contacts, the F11 ran out. After good deal of researching and consternation over budget vs solutions I ended up trying something you can get at any Walmart. Yep, I said it, Walmart... Anyway, it has performed every bit as good as the F11 but at a substantial less cost. Depending on where you live and what your budget allows for results may vary. But for me I feel like Im getting a good bang for my buck. The product comes in two applications. The first one strips the target surface of all grease, grime, and polutants then you come back with a spray on application of ceramic coating. Anytime there's something (like bugs debris) that's tough to remove w/o harming the finish the first surface prep spray takes it right off, no argument. Once you've put an application of the top ceramic spray everywhere, and I do mean everywhere on everything (except for your leather) when it does get a chunk of road kill it simply flicks right off. Once all your surfaces become coated your maintenance issues diminish greatly. I also have a product I use on my leather and after years of use I highly recommend it. I always put an extra bit on all the seams to keep them pliable. My seat is a 2016 but still looks, feels, and performs like a new one, as all my leather does. This product, UV3, is also two stage. Your first application is a cleaner that removes all pollutants, etc and preps it for the next coat. Also good in case someone spills something icky on your seat! The top coat absolutely penetrates the leather keeping it soft and supple even in the hot sun and cold rain. Whenever I wash the bike I touch everything up with the CMX and then do the leather with the UV3. My bike looks new... as it always does; even in this harsh (bike wise) climate. Hope this helps somebody out there with budget issues and a yearning bike finish begging for a fix. lol. Thanks. Be well and stay safe out there! (I'll try to attach pics. If you see 'em then it worked, lol.)
