Finally joined the club!

Post by GD2 »

After spending years and years lusting after Gold Wings, and the better part of the last year patiently looking for a "deal", I scored today, and even got my favorite color - TEAL. Ended up with a 1995 Aspy with 83k that had been sitting for a little over a year.

Owner started and ran it for me, but it needs a good carb clean. I am hoping to try a super-seafoam cleanout before I tear into them. Maybe there is a good thread someone can pint me to for that?

The bike was actually running pretty good when he started it and that was on the crappy old gas.

It needs the computer board that runs the display (anybody have p/n?). Also needs new battery, rear brakes bled, cruise control doesn't work, needs new speakers, and not sure what else yet. She really needs a good bath.

Two owners ago, she was named "Green Dragon II" which is painted on the rear trunk by whoever pinstriped her.

Here's a pic - I am THRILLED to be a "real member" now.

The LCD display has been discontinued.
However, there is an aftermarket upgrade with a nice color display. Search here and on goldwingfacts.com for more info.

Does the display have anything to do with the Air Ride suspension not working?

The PO made me think that there was a PC board that needed to be replaced that "ran" the LCD. Is that completely wrong?

Some of the air functions are handled by the LCD, and of course the pressure display requires the LCD. The service manual has more details. Yes, the LCD is a sandwich of the display and the driver board, but Honda sold them as a unit. No longer available except as a used part, now.

Tanin has been selling those for years. But it is the LCD display glass only. Great if you have a display that has gone black or is cracked, but it doesn't include the circuit board that this person says they need.

Could the display be not working due to a bad fuse or relay? Or connector?
