voyager trike kit

Post by drmorick »

Hello everyone,

I have a 95 aspencade, and I was wondering if a voyager trike kit from a 85 gl1200 goldwing will fit my 95 aspencade?

Thanks for any reply

The best advice I can give is to contact voyager trikes and ask them, if anyone would know accurately they would. I wish that you lived a little closer to me as I have a richland roadster trike kit that I know would work and would like to sell but freight might be rough right now.
Try to learn from the mistakes of others..... you won't live long enough to make them all yourself!

I think you should type 'voyager trike problems' into your browser. There is a really serious problem with this design.

This is a four wheel trike. Already it sounds wrong. You're bolting outrigger wheels on a normal motorcycle.
The bike is normally riding on the two wheels of the bike, and other times on a third wheel when you
'tip to that side'. So, a then slower moving wheel which was in the air touches down causing that side
to catch and wrench to that side.

I actually saw a guy's voyager that the outrigger wheels were scrubbed into almost a car tire.
It scares me when people say they're interested in this.

But hey, do your own research, do what makes you happy. Hope my rant was somewhat useful.

Having had a Voyager kit and not just relying on what others have heard I would like to add my thoughts here. the trike kit can be moved from the 1200 to the 1500, the problem is you have to have different mounting hardware and I think you will find Voyager will NOT sell it to you. I had a friend that moved his kit from his wife's 1200 to a 1500, he made the mounting brackets himself and modified the belly pan. I am NOT suggesting you try that, he knew what he was doing. Also if your kit is set up where it has any of the rear tires off the ground at any time it is unsafe to ride and needs to be repaired. The outrigger kit is set up with a preload to keep the outer tires on the ground with pressure, that pressure can be adjusted to your liking. the biggest thing people find that make the set up dangerous is the steering becomes very hard and can push you out of a turn if your not careful. In my case I went ahead and installed a 4 deg easy steer as it was my wife's bike.
like anything you add it is always a good idea to check it on a regular basis for loose or broken parts, after all it is just a machine
also just as a side note the tires on the kit are car tires

Looking at the diagram I was wondering about. I think I'll change my mind about the voyager.

Thanks for the info

Voyager isn't a trike kit, it's TRAINING WHEELS.
