Help with oil level from Honda Service Manual

Post by Jonbarking3 »

Changing oil on Wing.
I have been up for 3 days straight and not thinking clearly
Not operating any equipment either.

How do you measure 3.7 US qt, 3.1 Imp qt ????

Am I wrong to think there is a misprint in my Honda Service Manual, looks like more oil at oil change than at filter and oil change??

Dumping the whole gallon is probably too much, but what is 3.7 ???

I would just dump 3 1/2 qts. in and start the bike and let it run for a minute. Then just check the dipstick and add as needed. Dipstick not screwed in to check.

3.7 is 3 and 7/10,, just a bit under 3 and 3/4

Thanks that is what I will do

I was hoping answer was 3 quarts and 12, 13, 14, 15, etc ounces

As during childhood I was overwhelmed by carbon monoxide twice within a 10 day period and to this day even a small doze of CO makes me sick.

Yes running for a few minutes & shutting off for a few minutes makes me nausea with blurred vision.

Guess I could change oil & filter in the driveway.

Thanks again for your help & reply

.7 u.s. qt = 22.4 us fl oz

32 X .7 = 22.4

For the last 20 years, I have been pouring in the full gallon when I change the oil and filter on my GL1500.

Since 2010, I have been pouring in the full gallon on the GL1800's I have owned when I change the oil and filter.

MikeB
Makes sense
Thanks
Guess I shouldn't be comparing Honda Service Manual to Honda Owner's Manual as they have different amounts
3.7 or 3.9 quarts not much difference.

3 days with no sleep, had me reading and thinking too much. Instead of posting I should have went to sleep
Take care

Yup, same here, just pour in 4 qts and am done. I don't even check the dipstick.
