valve tap
I need help to figure out an issue that developed doing a semi routine job. I recently had a need to clean the hydraulic lifters on my 1994 GL 1500 SE. I removed each lifter one at a time and cleaned and worked each until they were free and easy to move with my fingers. After re-assembling, filling the oil and pumping up the oil by using the starter with the kill switch on off; it developed a loud valve tap on the left side of the engine once it started. The right side is quiet and went through the same exact procedure. I'm not sure what to do from here. Could someone guide me to the answer to get it back where it belongs. I want to RIDE>

Re: valve tap
I would suggest taking the left valve cover back off and check the rocker arms to see which one is loose, since it is a loud noise it should be easy to spot the offender and then decide what to do, it may be obvious.
Try to learn from the mistakes of others..... you won't live long enough to make them all yourself!

Re: valve tap
Thanks for your direction. I won't be able to get to it until next week because I'm going out of town this week. I certainly will look into it and respond to your post. Hopefully it is not a big deal to correct. Look for a response next week.
