Hi all,
I just bought my first Wing - 1993 GL1500 Aspencade w/ 56k miles - in pretty decent condition. The previous owner got too old to ride and the last recorded maintenance was in 2004... so I have quite a bit to do. Words cannot describe how helpful this site is for all things Goldwing.
First on my to-do list (aside from routine oil/fluid across the board) is replacing the rear lower center brake light - the one below the license plate. I have the GL1500 part from cyclemax ready to go in (https://cyclemax.com/products/gl1500-re ... 9861490868). However, a previous owner had removed the original reflector and installed an aftermarket light, which is proving difficult to remove for my new light.
Is there something I should be doing to get the old light assembly housing removed? I know there are two acorn nuts keeping it in place, but i'm unsure how to get to them. Perhaps I'm missing something.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I changed mine while I had the rear apart for a full service. I think you could get your arm in behind the tire if you are able to get under the bike. I cheated and used a car lift, so I can't say for certain, but it looks like if it was on the center stand and you lay on the ground behind it perhaps you could remove them if there is somewhere for your elbow to go. You can see the acorn nut circled in green right next to the frame tube.
The wires plug in behind the lights in the left saddlebag as I recall. I did some other mods and LED swaps at the time so I may have changed things.
Or just remove the bags, for brake service, air shock service, air pump desiccant change, drive oil change, drive shaft lube, drive spline lube, maybe a tire and a wash even.

Rambozo beat me to it.
But he's right. It's best to remove one of the saddlebags to get to it.
