I've seen a bunch made from PVC pipe. Sometimes with weights added, sometimes not.

I made mine out of PVC pipe that has a slit cut into it. That way it is adjustable to different size fork tubes. I use a hard plastic hammer so I do not mess up the tubes. Been using it for over 30 years and more seals than I can remember.
