GL 1500 Swing arm

Post by Nlmman47 »

I was wondering is there to test the swing arm bearing without taking the wheel off. i put new tire on and changed the wheel dampers and all is good but i would feel a little loose now and then when i get up to 70. i not sure if its just me with the new wheel or maybe my shocks are going bad. the wheel bearings seem fine. but i forgot to check the swingarm when all was off. does any body have a sugestion

Easily done - with the bike on the center stand, push the rear wheel from side to side to check for free play. There should be none.

Ten 4 I will give it a try. Why I got you here. The rubber damper in the rear tire, I put new ones in it because the Olds where shot. But the new ones I put in it I had to really push hard down on it to get the lock on . Is that normal?

A little soapy water helps.

Soapy water or a shot of silicone lube. Both are rubber friendly and will either dry or get adsorbed into the rubber. Don't need a huge amount of either. Just enough to make the blocks slick enough to get in.
