trunk delete for bagger

Post by Jeffrey268 »

Does anyone know how to delete the trunk to become a bagger and how do I get the side bags to open?
Just wondering, i saw photos and thought it looked good. Thanks

That bike was never made that way, so it's up to you how you want to do it.
The closest factory thing was the German pizzabox trunk.

I think it does look very cool - I have seen a few pics. But I am sure that it is not an easy job, and there has to be a lot of fabrication to make it look right. Can't wait to see it if you do it.
That's not just a motorcycle. It's a Gold Wing.

I made a plywood deck and installed.

The first version was clear epoxy coated, but it stood out too much = for my liking. The next is wrapped.

I drilled a small hole over the bag release buttons and use a small rod to open the bags. The bags can't be locked, but I've always removed locks = they're too much of a hassle.
The tie down eyes are also the sequring bolts to the bike.

The deck has to be this large to cover the area that is exposed when the trunk is removed.

I made a similar deck for my PC800 and used a cutting board. I used a poly board, but there are certainly some very nice looking wood boards that might also work. Or even aluminum or metal with holes for attachment points.
That's not just a motorcycle. It's a Gold Wing.

thanks for the input but i think I'll look more in depth as I have seen the old trunk area covered by the trunk lid. I am looking for the pizza box trunk too, may not find one but I'll look.
thanks

Beautiful, but lonely. Did you delete the windshield as well?

I want to do this also to my 92 but I really like that german pizza box option, I'm out in Québec Canada, finding one of these won't be easy nor cheap...

You can probably acquire the skills and make your own before you find one.
There are plenty of YouTubers that do fiberglass tutorials. James Biggar has made some motorcycle bodies from scratch a few years back. Seems like a lot of work for a one off, but they sure look nice.

Yes for sure, I have a spare top case, I'll dig it out of the parts shed and see what can be done!
