Do you have a trusted mechanic?

Post by BigDanT »

Hello,

I need some carburetor work done on my 1999 Gold Wing.

Normally, I do all of my own work, but I'm a big guy with really big hands, and carburetor work in that confined space is going to be difficult.

I'm looking for a local mechanic that knows how to service a Gold Wing carburetor. I'm located in Puyallup WA.

Anybody have a mechanic they trust in my area?

It's very hard to find anyone who will work on a Gold Wing. I don't have a local guy for you but if you remove the carbs I do have a guy who you can send them to. He has 100% review on his Ebay store (which is where he primarily does business) and he is a very nice guy who will be happy to speak to you.

That's not just a motorcycle. It's a Gold Wing.

What do you need done? For any real work, the carbs have to come off the motor to get to the inside of the carbs. All the parts that need to come off the carb to pull it are right in the open. You will need a long screwdriver to get to the clamps that hold the carbs on to the carb boots.

Great reviews of his work and you send the carbs to him with a rebuild kit

I'm asking this same question only I'm in WV and willing to take the bike anywhere in the region. I've literally been at it for years and it's still not right. Even my ego is wearing down.

Just keep at it it is totally worth it!
So I sent my bike to a local bike shop to have the carbs and fuel lines looked at as I simply didn’t have the time to go through it. It cost me $1300 and yes it is running but he is not familiar with Goldwing so my CB connectors were underneath the plastics and the backseat, the elbow for the air from the front into the filter is missing, and while I asked him to go over the entire bike, the brakes are not working on the rear. Luckily, I know what to do about the rear brakes and if I need to replace the master it is only $50 on Amazon. There is a video on goldwing docs.com about how to replace it without removing more than you need to.
Accessing all the different sites for Goldwing owners is a must they are filled with amazing people and tutorials on how to fix your issues. I just wish there were extra brand new unpackaged pieces for all my plastics lol.
