Service manual GL 1500 - 1988/89

Post by paseandoconhonda »

Hello, I was searching but I only found partial manuals. I have a GL 1500 manual but it is for 1994 models and has differences with my 1988 model. Does anyone know where to get one for my '88 GL 1500? Thank you so much.

At night and at 100 it is not noticeable.

Helm is the official source for Honda manuals. Shows out of stock at the moment, but if you contact them, you might get an ETA.

You can often get used ones in good condition on ebay for a lot less.

I just received 1 today from Amazon, Haynes is supposed to cover 1988-2000. It cost $40.00; I don't know what you are looking for, but it looks like it has anything you might need.

I have one with 761 pages, which shares 99% of the things, but you can see that in the 88 and 89 some colors of cables and vacuum hoses are definitely different from the 90 models onwards.

I find them on ebay. I have every manual on every bike and car or truck that I own. I find them on ebay and usually find for decent price. All of my manuals are the factory OEM manuals. Keep watching ebay and be patient. You can also check craigslist.org, in your local area. I did find one there.

88/89 are unique with 2 post starters, fuel pump relay with 2 second prime, radiators, diode use, gear position sensors, carb altitude compensation, etc. Have some particular questions? Ask away I got to know one :)

In the reverse switch, which is between the battery and the air shock, there is a pink wire, which on my motorcycle is orange and I just realized that it was loose, this wire goes to a 5 amp fuse box and from there to the reverse controller, more precisely to terminal number 13, the issue is that when I connect that cable and turn on the key, fuse 8 in the fuse box is cut. Obviously the reverse gear was already working poorly when I bought the motorcycle, and that is why I am looking for a solution. When you select reverse gear, everything seems normal until you press the operation button, there it starts to work without force and interruptedly, only 3 or 4 times and then it dies. Maybe I should open a new post with a video.
The problem is that if the manual says it is pink and on my motorcycle it is orange, I no longer trust that manual much.

If you can send it to me in better quality to "sadimacarelle@hotmail.com" it would be a huge favor, since the colors of the cables are not visible.

When I had my 88, I had both the factory and the Clymer manual. The Clymer had some things in it that the factory manual did not for some reason. I got both of them off E Bay. I like the Clymer manual better than the Haynes. It just covered more things.

Thank you very much, but there it is only for 1994 models, and the 1988 and 1989 models differ in some things.
