95 GL 1500 valve covers

Post by Nice95Wing »

Hi guys I just purchased a 1995 Honda GL 1500 Goldwing last weekend. I'm starting to go over it with a fine tooth comb to see what needs attention. Overall it's really good condition, it hasn't been run much for the last 5 years. The fellow I bought from has some health issues that prevented him from riding it recently.

I noticed the valve cover on the left hand side of the engine has had damage to it and it has been repaired ( likely from the highway pegs). I've been looking for a used valve cover and haven't been able to find one with the similar gold inlay. Is that just a 25th anniversary thing or an accessory that was added on?

Any ideas on where I might locate one? I'm thinking all 1500 covers should fit? Thanks Jason

The gold version was on the SE from 91-97. AFAIK most of the covers are the same with the exception of emblem changes in those years. Chrome for Aspencades and Interstates, gold for Special Editions.

Thanks, good info to know. I'll keep an eye on eBay and see if I can find one. Mine is not leaking but I'm not a big fan of the jb weld, not that it's not plenty strong. My only concern would be if there is any on the inside that could by chance come loose.
