Radio station dash display

Post by Yorick1026 »

1993 GL1500SE

Clock displays on the dash properly. Radio has no display on the LCD but is functioning properly. Probably a wire loose somewhere correct? I’m really not planning to use the radio, will probably just get a Bluetooth set for my helmet so I’m not sure I even want to chase this down. Thoughts from the more experienced???

I am curious, if there is no radio display on the LCD screen, how can you tell if it is functioning properly? and what exactly is functioning properly?

You do know that if the radio is turned off there will be no radio information displayed on the LCD screen right?

What do you see on the screen?

By functioning normally I mean the radio plays, tunes, stores presets, cassette works, all dials operate. There is just nothing displaying on the dash display except the clock. So whilst I can hear the radio I have no real idea what station it’s tuned to.

I have never seen that malfunction.
How long has this malfunction been there?
Has the shelter been off lately and the radio disconnected for any reason? Like maybe during an air filter replacement? One of the connectors might not be fully seated.

Ahh! You may have solved it. Started right after a filter replacement. I will check the connectors.

Turns out it was a connector not fully seated. Fortunately all I had to do was remove the ignition cover and press the harnesses in better. Working great now! Thanks.
