TPA3116 amp - candidate for GL1500 stereo?

Post by GD2 »

I have been looking at the TPA3116 amp and thinking it might be good for making a stereo for the GL1500 that can be used without altering or deleting the stock stereo. People seem to love it, it's tiny, works on 12v (actually something like 5-24v), and would be perfect for something that you Bluetooth your phone to or plug an MP3 player into.

Just unplug the stock stereo, pin into the Power and Speaker wires in the plug, and use the speakers as they are. There may even be room for it under the fader panel?

Anyone ever play with one of these little amps?

That's not just a motorcycle. It's a Gold Wing.

They need a lot of power reserve - so you might need some capacitors on the power input to absorb peaks. Also make sure you have some sort of cooling air moving over the heat sinks.
