Replacing 1990 GL1500 wiring harness

Post by 60bazzle »

Greetings all:

I am replacing the wiring harness on my newly acquired 1990 GL 1500 SE with one salvaged from a 1995 GL1500 SE. I am encountering a couple missing connectors and a couple surplus ones. Do any of you clever folks have experience with this?

There are harness changes year to year. Usually not as big a problem with going up as with going down. You may have to go over both wiring diagrams and see what changed. The SE has the most goodies, but there are still some options that were added as they went.

Just to close out this post I'll tell you what I did. I took my old harness which had several melted ground wires contained therein and reconstructed it with wires from my 1995 donor harness. This insured that no connectors were improper and resulted in less hairpulling trying to figure out what goes where. It is running like a top now.
