final drive problems

Post by the limey »

Hi all , i will try and keep this brief no one wants to read a novel , So it started with a mild vibration during the year it got progressively worse then a grinding feeling in the brake pedal ,seat back etc got a nasty queeky noise were the drive shaft arrives at the engine , me thinks uni joint so 4 days ago broke it all down the uni joint had nasty grinding marks almost to the needle bearing cups , yippee found it replaced said joint lots of moly paste the job went ell , short ride about 1 mile all seemed fine so yesterday did a 150 mile round trip omg the grinding feeling came back with the most awful squealy sort of noise off throttle {ie off gas} me thinks dive shaft flops around to much so take it all down again well the shaft does flop about but the splines look fine on both ends , removed drain bolt on the magnet no metal fillings so before i put it all back together ,PLEASE HELP , were do i look now , as an aside comment i have asked 2 { goldwing expert shops here to actualy do the work and they all declined i think i can see why]

Reads to me like it must be somewhere that the moly was applied. Was it the proper moly ? I ask cause it will make a difference.
As you understand I'm sure without seeing it's hard to guess but look through everything else too. If the shaft is sloppy in the joint, shaft has to go, imo.
