Went for a ride last week and when I got home, next day discovered a small puddle of oil under what turned out to be left rear shock. I installed Progressive 416 1633 in 2010 and they’ve been great until now. Probably have 65000 miles on them.
Progressive no longer sells the rebuild kits for the shocks. It seems the Honda seals are not available either, according to my local dealer.
Has anyone discovered a solution to replace the seals in this shock? The Progressive part number is 30-5041. Progressive documentation that came with the shocks says Honda seals (1062975 or 1534627) would also work. None of these seem available on Amazon, eBay or the internet in general. Also looking for Progressive’s instructions #3065 on the hope that something will materialize.
What are others doing now that Progressive no longer supports these shocks?
Thanks in advance!
Nathan

You probably figured this out but looking into the same shock issue I ran across a video that said Honda part # 91257-MG9-671 works for the oil seal on Progressive 416 series shocks.

If you get the opportunity can you please post the link to the video here?Sparkazulu wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2024 3:49 pm You probably figured this out but looking into the same shock issue I ran across a video that said Honda part # 91257-MG9-671 works for the oil seal on Progressive 416 series shocks.
Also, did it show how to rebuild the Honda OEM shock? I'll bet the info is on the Honda Service manual and can be seen in that manual.
By the way, I looked up this seal and it fits the 1984 GL1200 shock. It is still available and may work for a Progressive 416 series but I can not verify that.
