hello I have recently purchased a 1991 gl1500 aspencade
when I bought the bike it would only run with the coke on (there was a vacuum leak that I fixed) and the cruise control light would come on but would not work. after a test ride then trailering the bike home the tachometer stopped working, the tach did work on the test ride.
so after getting the bike home I started to take plastics off to find the vacuum leak, once that was fixed I did some investigating on the cruise control I think my throttle safety switch is acting up. after I felt like I found the problem I moved onto replacing the speakers and looking at the tach, speakers were no problem. I then tried cleaning the connections behind the dash to fix the tach using electrical connector cleaner (spray wiggle spray wiggle and waiting for it to dry) I started the bike still no tach so I cleaned the connector at the ecu with the same process. turn the key on go to start it and it cranks but has no spark now, I tried again the next day same issue I did try jumping the battery with an extra car battery I had in the garage still nothing.
needless to say I'm very worried I did something to the ecu that is now cutting the spark any help or suggestions on what to do from here would be greatly appreciated.
it was running now no spark

Check the kill switch.

where would a connector be that I could test? I assume continuity though the kill switch would be the best way?

Not sure you can get to the connector with all the plastics on. However, there is a shortcut. Turn on the Cruise Control and cycle the kill switch. The Cruise On light should cycle with the kill switch.
