Low Fuel Light not working

Post by Dutch_Hans »

I am on this Forum for years and found so many answers and ideas for my 1500 Goldwing. Thank you all. But now I have an annoying bulb. My Low Fuel Light doesn't come on. It should come on when I turn the key on Ignition (like the Goldwing of my friend does) but nothing. The bulb is ok. I have tried and measure 12V on one side of the bulb. there is no ground connection on the other side. It looks like that the ground is not switching on... I am a little stuck here. Does someone know how to proceed... where to measure what and how? Thank you all in advance

Greetings from Germany.

Something strange is going on. That bulb is grounded two different ways. During the bulb test it is grounded through C16 to pin 7 on the LCD unit. In normal use it is grounded through the low fuel thermistor in the tank. The thermistors can go bad, but it should still come on for the two seconds of the bulb test. Do all your other lights come on during the bulb test?
Maybe check the bulb socket and connector C16 (green/white wire)

Hi Rambozo,
Thank you for your quick reply. Yes, all other lights come on when I switch to Ignition except for the Low Fuel bulb. Do I have to take the instrumentpanel apart to get to C16?
I could get the bulb out when the panel was still fitted.

C16 is the 10 pin plug on the back of the instrument panel. Pretty sure you will have to remove the panel to inspect it.

Thank you, I found some pics of the backside of the dash. i think I can take it apart (thanks to Wingadmin with the very detailed description of the dashbulb to led changes). I have to find some time to do it but I will be back..
