Well, it's me. I live in the northeast, so my bikes get put away as late as possible in the fall, are are revived as soon as possible in the spring. Last year was no different.
In May, I took the wing (1999 GL1500 SE) out and tried to start it. As I cranked the engine, fuel drained out of the carb overflow tube. Thinking I might have a stuck float, I jostled the bike and put up and down on the center stands as violently as possible. After a few days of doing this (not 24 hrs straight ) the fuel stopped flowing out of the tube. Success! or so I thought.
The bike started, but ran terribly. Only ran with choke on, and stumbled badly. I concluded from the stuck carb float that my carbs were fouled and needed service.
Well, wanting to ride and not to wrench, I put the wing aside and rode my Yamaha Super Tenere. Flash forward to last Friday - I decided it was time to adress the carbs. Before tearing into it, I started the wing and it stumbled as before. Then I noticed the fuel gauge was very low. I opened the fuel tank and saw that there was scant fuel. I added fuel, cranked it over, and it fired to life, running as smoothly as when I put it away last November.
Went for a 4 hour ride today and it was flawless. So, I admit I was dumb, but in the end, I am happy! It is an awesome bike!

I took my V-Star out for a ride and it crapped out on me about a block from home, so I pushed the bike back home (in the sweltering heat).
Then I discovered I had neglected to turn the petcock to "ON".

That's not just a motorcycle. It's a Gold Wing.
