Hello
I am new to the site and recently purchased a GL1500.
I noticed that my throttle is not returning at all.
I understand that there are a total of 3 throttle cables; pull and two returns. Both returns meeting at the cruise switch box. I've successfully lubed the pull cable, but am not sure if I lubed the return properly.
Removing the return cables from either ends allowed the throttle to return thanks to the return springs. So, the return springs are okay.
Is there something I'm missing? Am I adjusting the cables wrong? Adjust routing? etc...
Thanks for the advice.

The routing has to be right to eliminate binding in the cables. If there is rust or frayed inner cables they will need to be replaced.
There is a section on cable adjustment in the factory service manual. I seem to remember you need a few millimeters of free play in the system.

Hey Rambozo,
Thanks for the reply.
I replaced the pull and return cable this afternoon which took a few hours.
Turns out that it was binding at the throttle itself. The grips were rubbing against the plastic housing.
I sprayed some cable lubricant to see if it would fix it. Luckily, it did. Kinda silly to end with such an easy fix, but at least I know how to replace the cables now.
Is there a particular grease or lube I should be using for the throttle??

Honda says to use oil, but I think it collects too much dirt. I use PTFE dry film spray lube for all cables and controls.

Dry graphite lubricant spray is what I have always used, also works great on clutch cables (for bikes with a cable clutch) as well as speedo cables.
