I also have a Tom Tom and the mount is on the right handlebar, and it doesn't hit the windshield when turning sharp. I do not believe it is waterproof. I also have a sun visor on mine, to help me see it better.

Put a RAM mount on the left side on mine. Works great.

RAM works great for me. Right handlebar. Tulsa windshield. Adjusts easily to stay out of the way.

Dear Wardencaro

I had a bracket made from aircraft grade aluminum to the exact dimensions of the Goldwing badge that sits just below the ignition switch. I also had it powder coated black. The total cost came to about $60. The TomTom Rider 2 was then fitted with the use of a RAM kit. The GPS now sits in my line of sight and does not obstruct my view of any instrument or warning light. Take a look ...

I have a GL1500 SE 1999 and this is how I mounted my Garmin GPS

I bent and shaped an aluminum plate. drilled it to mount on the handle bars.

The Touratech bracket is used to mount the Garmin GPS.

When making the plate you can shape it to position the GPS at the best angel for you to see the screen.
With my bracket you should be able to mount any GPS bracket to it.

Here is a link to my photo album of my solution.

The First Pic is the finished product. The rest of the Pics should give you enough info to reproduce my work.

Parts needed.
$10.00 EBAY 88-2000 Honda Goldwing GL1500 Upper Shelter Badge
- Not required. You can use the one on the bike and it can be put back to original appearance without issue if you are careful with your disassembly. I bought one so I could experiment without worry.

$ 6.99 AMAZON Ram Mount (RAM-B-238U) 2.43 x 1.31-Inch Diamond Ball Base with 1-Inch Ball (Black)
$ 9.49 AMAZON Ram Mount Composite Short Double Socket Arm for 1-Inch Ball Bases
$29.99 AMAZON TACKFORM Motorcycle Phone Mount - 1" Ball Connection - Heavy Duty Spring Loaded Phone Holder. Compatible with RAM and ARKON 1 Inch Ball System. NO TETHER NEEDED, but they include one anyway.

The only permanent alteration you will make is carefully drilling two holes for your mounting screws.
If you put it back to original, those holes will be hidden.

Be carefull using a knife to split the gold ring trim away from the base.
You first need to trim off the bottom of the 4 posts that work kind of like rivets.
The black part bezel is what splits. The gold part has a black flange.

I mounted mine using a snap in holder for the GPS, made a hood to slip in place from some flat bedliner material I cut on a band saw and heated to bend. This pic was taken from Nikon on neck strap at chest height, my view includes temp & gas gages.
