I have a Honda Ignition Security System I was wondering how to remove this safely as to get keys $200.00 each.I have seen youtube on reprogramming keys but have been told it doesn't work on the wings.

I was not aware that the GL1800 had chipped keys required for operation. Key blanks may be had for as little as .99 on EBay. Many discussions on other forums indicate that you do not need to pay $200 for keys, but really only a normal fee for the cutting, as the keys are an Axxess 27 key blank, without electronic chip. The Axxess 27R look the same but the key portion is too short to operate the ignition.

Okay, update ..... further research indicates that European (probably includes Australia) model GL1800 bikes need chipped keys, so sorry for your luck. Hopefully someone will come up with a solution IE: disabling your HISS.

To get rid of the HISS system you have to change the bikes main ECU which works out a lot more expensive than replacing the keys on a HISS equipped bike.

When I bought my 2010 wing here in Perth Western Australia the Honda dealer told me if I loose both my keys it will cost $3000 to replace the little electronics box and keys.
