Hazard light switch problems

Post by Hugh »

I am needing some assistance with the hazard light (4 way flasher) switch on my 2003 GL1800. I have sprayed it with electronic cleaner, WD-40 and synthetic cleaner and it won't turn off. It starts ok, but last time I used it, I had to press it about 263 times before it would turn off. I have contacted 2 dealers with the problem but their parts dept haven't called back. Thanks for any assistance. Hugh

Very common problem. I have it from time to time on my '08. Usually saturating it with silicone spray takes care of it. I have found that pressing toward the bottom right of the button works better.

The lube inside starts to harden.
Remove the switch, clean out the old gunk and reassemble with spray Lithium.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: When removing the cover from the switch, do it in a clear plastic bag. The small spring WILL go flying.)
The GL1800 is a crotch rocket on Steroids.
