08 wiring diagram
Hello, I am new to the forum and have an 08 GL1800. I am having trouble with the reverse system and Iam suspecting the reverse regulator. I have a manual that covers 01 to 05 but the wiring seems to be a bit different. Does anyone have the diagram for the reverse regulator for an 06 to 10 model so I can check mine?
The problem I am having is that first of all, I get no neutral light at all. No power is to be found at the reverse relay coil. If I jumper out the contacts on the reverse relay and turn the bike on with the reverse switch in the on position, it goes into reverse, and I can run in reverse. If I turn the reverse off, the light starts blinking slow blink. Then if I turn the key off and back on with the reverse switch off, the actuator dis-engages reverse gear and the reverse light starts slow blinking. Everything that seems to not be working is somehow connected to that reverse regulator (diode block).
Any help with the diagram would be greatly appreciated.

The diagram is quite huge - and it will likely scale down here quite small, hopefully you can still make it out enough to make some use of it. Click on it to see the enlarged version:

Re: 08 wiring diagram
I did find the problem. The micro-switch inside the Reverse Shift Actuator is bad and stuck in the "reverse" state. I am going to try replacing the switch and see what happens. If it works, it's a $2 fix. The actuator is over $120.
Wish me luck!

I, for one, wish you luck, and if it works would like a detailed "how to" here so I can save it into my "in case this happens to me" file.

I tried to post a pic of the switch, but for some reason it said file was invalid. Maybe I don't have enough posts yet or something. When I receive the switch I will try to post pics of the procedure.

Here's a pic of the switch. Hard to believe this will stop the entire bike from starting.
I found switches on Ebay, qty of 10 switches for under $3 although they are roller switches, it looks like it should work.

Re: 08 wiring diagram
As it turns out those switches didn't work.. after hours of searching online I gave up and just bought a new part from PowersportsPlus.com. It came to about $136.00 with shipping. Put it in yesterday and got the bike back together (with a new air filter) and everything worked like it should. Sorry guys, I tried. I suppose I could have rigged a switch in there but didn't want to take a chance on it failing because it came loose or something. Maybe that switch is available somewhere and if someone has a non-working actuator, they could take that switch out and find a source.

Re: 08 wiring diagram
I thank Papppasmcr for the tip, I could get in trouble after a day of work to disassemble the bike and another to back it.
In the video I show how I fixed the microswitch, made a small hole with a paper clip heated and applied contact cleaner, then closed the hole with glue.
I've had the same problem with the microswitch the rear brake light and resolved the same way.
Sorry my poor english, but here in Brazil we speak Portuguese.
A big hug.

Re: 08 wiring diagram
The problem I had with the switch was that the contact inside the switch was burned up and I needed to find a replacement switch but was unsuccessful in finding one.

The next time I replace one, I'll let you know.Techdude2000 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 10, 2018 9:35 pmI know this is an old thread, but do you still have the bad actuator and switch?

Re: 08 wiring diagram
Thanks Greg, that would be good. I’d like to get my hands on the switch to do some checking. I’m sure there’s a replacement version out there without swimming to Japan.
