Idle needs adjusted up

Post by trikeman II »

GL 1800 how do you set the idle? Mine idles at abt. 600 RPM. I would like for it to idle at 1000 RPM. The reson is I have a lot of extra lights on the bike and when I come to a stop, the lights dim down terribly. Any suggestions!
Have a Great Day.

I Trikeman

You can not change the idle RPM, I look in my books to my GoldWing 2003.

This is an electronic program adjust the idle.

If all of your extra lights are LED i would take a look at your battery and its connections. You might want to get a meter and check its voltage at idle. An 1800 alternator puts out enough wattage that you shouldnt have any issues.

Have you ever checked the valve clearance? Tight exhaust valves can cause idle to be low.
