trailer harness

Post by fordor328 »

Had to trike my 2008 GL1800 due tomultiple knee issues. Now I need to install a wiring harness for a pull behind trailer. Nothing seems to exist in the "how to" articles. Does anyone have experience with this? or can point me in the right direction? I have the kuryayn wiring harnesses.

Every commercial wiring harness I've seen is a simple plug-and-play affair. You unplug a connector, plug the harness in between the connectors, and that's about it.

The longest part for me was running the wires down to the trailer hitch, making sure they would not wear or be damaged, and then making a disconnect to allow it to be disconnected when the hitch was removed from the receiver.

You might also look at a Trailer isolator harness to go between your other harness and the bike. So that if theres an electrical issue it isolates the trailer from the bike and doesnt take out the trikes electrical system.
