Foglights

Post by RoadDawg »

I have a 2012 Wing and have purchased some ShowChrome fog lights....installed them in my 2009 without a problem. I have the lights themselves hooked up and ready to go. I have the switch assembly installed into the audio panel ready to go. However, I am having a real problem finding the connector for this harness from the switch to plug into in order to control the fog lights.

I know it is buried inside the frame somewhere....I found a large clear rubber boot about 3" long, buried down below the audio control panel and I suspect the connector is in there but it is jammed in so tight I cannot slide the boot up to see if this is the case. I don't want to yank on the wire too much.

So....am I heading in the right direction for the plug in connector...I cannot seem to find another connector in this area??? I am having one of those "DUH" moments

Thanks for the help.

Ken

Hey Ken,

I don't know about the 2012's, but on the earlier models the switch is on the panel below the left fairing pocket, so the connector should be buried under there somewhere. Keep looking!

Geeeezzzz....they sure make it difficult to get your fingers into those small spots to get a hold of the connector....still looking for it....suspect it is in the clear rubber boot below the hole where the audio panel goes. Hide and seek perhaps??

Ya .... Honda has a habit of hiding those connectors tight in the wiring harness if not used/sold with the accessory from the factor/dealer. :x

Keep diggin, Ken

I am about to attempt connecting a set of Fog / Driving lights as well and have two questions:

1. Where did you find the plug and what colour is it?

2. Where can I buy the Male plugs that clip into the plugs provided for fog lights which sit behind the lower front coil?

I know they are supposed to come with the lights, but these lights came off my 2010 where they were connected directly to wires in the harness.

Nick

1. It has been so long since I installed the lights I cannot remember the color of the plug....I think it was either white or grey but it was very obvious as to what it was for when I removed the front cowl.

2. Male plugs...not sure...mine were simple plug ins but maybe touch base with Honda?

Should not be overly difficult to do if you have an electric tester.

Wish I could be more help.....you might also wish to check out STEVE SAUNDERS GoldWing blog and post something in there??

You might look through here. Eastern Beaver has quite a selection of plugs for motorcycles.
