Re: 2005 GL1800 intercom not working
I know it is a silly question, but you would be amazed how often this is the problem. Have you tried the intercom button multiple times, and used the volume button in conjunction to raise the volume of the intercom? If you tried all this, then an electical genius needs to jump in and that ain't me.

Re: 2005 GL1800 intercom not working
Check the MUTE button
Make sure your cable is securely connected
Check the INTERCOM VOLUME
If you have 2 cables, try swapping the cables, you could have a bad cable.

Re: 2005 GL1800 intercom not working
Just had same problem on 02.Mine was a bad cable. I find that I replace these every year just bought new 5 pin cable last year was suprized to fine I needed another.. I started looking a icom button, volume, mute and even took mic out of helmet last thing I checked was cabled because I replaced last year. Now that I think about it I forgot to order a new one.. So off to online shopping once again.. Sally

Check the cords from the bike to your helmets .
Mine had one bad wire . My wife could hear me but I couldn't hear her, I fixed it anyway

I am having problems with my intercom on my 2008 GL 1800 too. Have you found anything that worked?

Re: 2005 GL1800 intercom not working
We are getting a lot of the 1800 radios with the intercom amp blown. Seems that it is all years that are having problem.
Re: 2005 GL1800 intercom not working
My 2005 was the same way and I finally took it to 3 dealerships and finally someone found the problem. The previous owner or someone that worked on the bike wired the rear set up backwards... they were adding a volume and push to talk button and had it wired backwards wrong. the wrong plugs. The mechanic that was looking at the wiring said that he would never noticed it if he would not have looked at a diagram and noticed a wire not matching up. 300 bucks later my wife can talk.... now trying to figure out how it was wired to start with.... it was quite taking trips... just thought I wanted her to be able to chat... lol I would advise you to check your wiring diagram and trace the wires.1drumlover wrote:Can someone tell me what to check, replace or if experienced the same... everything works fine on this awesome 2005 GL1800 bike except the intercom, it would be nice to have working for the next long trip my wife and I plan on taking.
