Minimum Touring Gear
I have a 2006 GW 1800 that has performed wonderfully so far. I have happily toured, relatively unprepared for problems. So my question is: Can y'all suggest a list of the minimum repair gear that one should take with on a ride? Appreciate all responses.

Money and a change of clothing.
Oh, might as well haul a couple of bottles of drinking water.
Okay, okay, I also take rain gear, a first aid kit, and as I camp, I haul a trailer with camping gear in it. I have my owners manual, and my Navigation manual and the tool kit that came with the bike. Yep, that is about it, and if not camping, then eliminate the trailer and everything in it.

Re: Minimum Touring Gear
Don't over think it and don't overpack.Chances are as far as tools and spare parts go if something does happen you won't have the right stuff with you anyways. The wife and I have been doing trips down into the States(approx. 95 % backroads) by ourselves 2-up and never really worry about getting stuck.I do carry tire plugs just because we usually are out in the sticks somewhere.
If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

I am never without the following:
Tire plug kit
Small air compressor and a way to power it, either a powerlet or alligator clip cables.
First aid kit
Duct tape
WD-40
Good Tool Kit, assemble your own.
Spare fuses.
Jumper Cables (motorcycle size)
Small multimeter

Re: Minimum Touring Gear
After doing over 150,000 miles on my 06 I have only needed my tire plug kit and compressor and my spare fuel bottle.
I have three different types of tire plug kits and I find the rope plugs to be the most reliable. I even used one to slow
a leak in a cut valve stem.
You would be surprised at how far it is between gas station in some places and how many places wont touch motorcycle tires.
