I have an 06 GL1800 Trike with 31000 miles on it and when I put it in 5th gear it seems like it wants to pop out of 5th gear. Someone told me that it is the heel/toe shifter that needs adjustment. Anyone have this problem?

Seems to want to pop out or it does pop out.If it is popping out then I would venture to say that it is too late to adjust the shifter. The damage has already been done and it may not even be due to the heel/toe.There have been lots of tranny problems in the 1800's according to one of the other forums whether they had the heel/toe or stock shifter. If you look around you'll find lots of reading on 1800 trans problems.

We have an 06 and it had problems with the tranny from the test drive, getting worse the more I rode it. That was at 7k miles.

It popped out of 5th and back in on the first ride. Then, it started jumping out of third as well.

The local dealer insisted there was nothing wrong with it. After nearly 30 complaints, I gave up on them.

I finally took the bike out of town to a dealer willing to listen, and, they rode on the back so I could show them what was wrong.

I only wish I had known about the proper fix for the problem before the tranny was rebuilt.

Honda does not do it, and the cost to cut and treat the gears properly, I believe is around $750.

I still have a minor issue downshifting to 3rd, but it is much better than it had been.
