Front fork tubes GL1800 leaking

Post by redwinger49 »

How do I replace the seals on the front fork tubes for a 2006 GL1800? Is there a kit I can buy? :)

Thanks,

There are many kits you can buy. I did mine last year I use traxxion seals and bushings. It's labor intentive.Front of bike needs to come a part and forks out from triple tree then they need to come apart. There are good vidieo out there to show you..

All Balls sells a kit that has new bushings and seals and swipers and pretty much all of the pieces you'll need to rebuild your forks. If youre going to change seals you might as well rebuild them. If you're going to do them take a good look at the manual and FWIW the hardest part I had with mine was getting the screws out of the bottom of the forks. I

You will need an air impack to get that bolt out.. short quick trigger squeezes. I also had trouble getting that out.

I wound up buying harbor freights cheapest electric impact and it worked like a charm.

Here is one source for the kit. Use the drop down to select the kit for your year.

Thanks for all the suggestions. My local dealer didn't offer a kit so I got the seals and dust covers. Going back today for the bushings and new bolts and washers.
:)
Used a L shaped allen wrench to get bolt out. inserted long shaft into bolt hole and used vice gripes for torque to turn it.
