Rear Thermistor Failed Inspection

Post by pz7pvq »

The Rear Thermistor Failed Inspection for my heated seat (page 21-65 in my service manual). Is it possible to repair the thermistor in my seat, or do I need to purchase a new seat. Only the rear seat heater is malfunctioning, the front one works fine. The heated seat switch is functioning properly as well. Thanks TimMoery@aol.com 248-931-4068

From "another forum"

The thermistor is a GE: RL0503-27.53K-120-MS

Digikey part number: KC005T-ND

http://search.digikey.com/scripts/Dk...T-ND&x=20&y=13

I ordered 2 of these to repair a heated seat and they work perfectly.

Thanks Les, the website is no longer available, do you have another website to get the part at. What did you have to do to replace the unit on the seat?

Ok I ordered 2 parts to fix my rear heated seat, does anyone have pics or a video, or a brief description of how I go about replacing my bad Thermistors?

A thermistor is just a resistor that changes its resistance value depending on temperature. It is not polarity sensitive - just clip the old one out and solder the new on in its place.

I don't know where it is located, I don't want to have to remove the whole seat vinyl to find it, does anyone have any pics of where the rear thermistor is located on a 2006 Goldwing seat? How can I remove and replace the cover without damaging everything?

as far as I know its wired to the element in series so you will have to strip your seat SOMEONE (DAVE) said they will not work without them WHY
MY thought was if it had NONE it would just run like it was ALWAYS COLD
Who knows???
