gl1800 stalls out at 1500rpm held constant..

My brother in law has a 2006 1800 and has had a problem with the bike stalling or dropping power suddenly at 1500 rpm's when it is held there at a constant. He's had it to Honda dealers who say they can't find a problem, anybody else had this problem too? thx....

Does it stall only at 1500 rpm or from 1500 rpm and up? did the dealer check the gas pump, it might be the problem.

Only at 1500 exactly and its held tbere for a bit then it will drop. Doesnt matter the gear its in either......thx

So if I understand, if you are driving over 1500 rpm no problem but when you cruise at 1500 rpm it stalls.

Correct..over or under its fine, has to be right on 1500...

If this is a first of it's kind problem that nobody has ever heard of....Maybe it's similar to the 88 model...
What I refer to is the Carb control module..
On my 88,the module opens a air control valve at precisely 1500 rpm.... and then closes it at 2500 rpm.
When it closes,a second one opens till 3000 rpm. At that rpm ( 3000 rpm) both open.

Perhaps there is a hose off the valve...

One thing he could try if he didn't is, unplug the battery for a bit then, reconnect the battery and start the bike and let it run till the fans come on, then turn off. It's supposed to adjust the system. don't touch the throttle while it's running. I'm not sure if this will work but, got nothing to loose.
