reverse problems 2006 gold wing
Here is a noodle scratcher...put the bike in reverse, backed up, took it out of reverse, wouldn't go out of reverse, key wouldn't shut off motor, kill switch wouldn't kill motor. It's my neighbors bike and I'm trying to help him out. Worked on lots of bikes just not much gold wing. Any ideas on where to start here?

My first guess is a stuck relay.
Most of what your dealing with is relay and solenoid controlled.
There is also the switches themselves.if a connection is failed to make, the circuit thinks the bike is still wanting reverse.
Jiggle/wiggle the switches, tap on the relays.
Even the main solenoids could weld themselves stuck on.give them a whack too.
Test after each attempt.
From there it's dig into the schematic time and find out what circuit isn't working.
I assume its the reverse circuit.theres plenty of pieces to it.Relays for it can be swapped too.

Thanks for the reply. Kinda of what I thought. Not knowing the history of Gold Wings, just thought I would post to see if this was a problem that has been seen before. Again, thank you.

I'm not saying I've seen this before.im playing with a 1500.A different beast.
This is just a suggestion on where to start.

A fairly common problem on the 1800's... More than likely the switch itself... The old grease congeals and prohibits the switch from working properly... You can try spraying a good electrical contact cleaner into the switch - this may work... Best to split the switch cluster to get into the switch itself... The best fix is to disassemble the switch and clean it well and relube - there are articles on doing this - one of those links is shown below...
