2003 gl1800 starting problem
When it comes to anything besides replacing the battery or replacing a bulb I am completely lost when it comes to my 2003 gl1800. I had a full service last spring which included replacing the battery, some front fork work, all fluids changed, etc... Unfortunately I did not get to ride much last season and when I stored it for the winter season I forgot to place the battery on the battery tender. When I took it out of storage I ended up placing the battery on a charger but could not get the bike to start. I placed a new battery and get lights and indicators but no FI light. Bike will still not start. Need some assistance.

The only thinks I can suggest is check the kill switch and make sure it is in neutral and or the clutch is pulled in.

Kill switch is in correct position and I have tried the clutch but it should start without the clutch pulled. Thank you though. Have checked all the fuses in the fuse panel and nothing blown. Still bewildered.

Does it turn over--crank--like it is trying to start? How do you know you are in neutral?
Can you tell if the starter is spinning?
How long has it sat and was the fuel treated before storage?

Yes I added additive like I do every year. The neutral light is on and I pushed bike to make sure it was in neutral. The only thing that happens when I push the start switch is the headlights go out. No sounds, clicks or anything.

It sounds like you have to clean the starter switch, if that doesn't work check for a bad ground.

I know this doesn't help your starting problem but when I read posts like this I thank God I live in Florida. Storing my bike for the winter, what the heck is that? We ride all year long!
Hope you get it figured out but it sounds like a bad starter switch or ground.

Make sure the reverse switch is fully disengaged. If it sticks in a little bit the reverse light will go out but it may not crank. Also try lightly tapping the kill switch. I have had a couple that had loose connections in the switch and tapping it would cause the engine to quit.
