XM Antenna Location
Would anyone know the location of the XM satellite antenna on a 2013? I have issues with reception and want to relocate it on the front dash as I had on my 2005. I had put a XM Roady on my 2005 and mounted the antenna on the dash just behind the windshield and it worked great. I traveled across the country and out to Nova Scotia and only had issues where there were tall buildings in cities, tunnels and extreme tree cover. Currently the reception goes out in places where I never had issues before.

Re: XM Antenna Location
It's mounted inside the instrument panel. Just about the same place you had yours mounted, but inside. I have the same issues with my 2012. There must be something inside causing the sub par reception. I never had reception problems on my 1500 when I had the antenna mounted on top of the dash (just like yours). I'm waiting for the warranty to run out before I tear into the dash and fix the problem myself.

Re: XM Antenna Location
I have the antenna in the exact same place on my GL1500, on the dash. On my GL1100 I tried mounting it underneath the trunk lid, to hide it from view, but even that thin layer of plastic affected the reception and caused dropouts where I should have had good reception. Moving the antenna above the trunk lid fixed that problem.baumedagn wrote:It's mounted inside the instrument panel. Just about the same place you had yours mounted, but inside. Re: XM Antenna Location
I had my previous Roady mounted inside the left hand compartment on the dash. Are you saying that if I remove that compartment the antenna will be mounted inside that? Thanks for the information.

Re: XM Antenna Location
i've been wondering the same thing since i got my '13. XM reception is poor at best and i get problems in areas i never had issues with on my '93, but it makes sense. i had the antenna mag mounted on the metal luggage rack over the trunk in the open.
now all i need is some ambitious winger to show how to get it re-located so i don t destroy my dash !!!! i hate terrestrial radio!
