GL1800 Alternator
Hello I live in ST. Louis and I have an 2008 GL1800 that was just told that my alternator is no good and the dealer will charge 800.00 for new one, I thought that was a little high. What does everyone recommend that I do, buy new or rebuild the original one.

Re: GL1800 Alternator
Run away!!! I had mine replaced by local bike shop for 375 including parts and labor. I suggest you look around and find a shop to do the change if you don't want to tackle it yourself.

Re: GL1800 Alternator
Not only that, but you can have them rebuilt by a reputable automotive rebuild facility that does starters and alternators.
Just curious but what did the dealer say was the cause of the failure?
