Whining
What is the whining noise the 1800s all make? I like the bike and plan to buy one, but I 'm just annoyed with that noise. I've seen some people that have added louder mufflers, but I can still hear that whine. I never heard it on any 1500.

Re: Whining
The timing chain makes a bit of a noise, but nothing really annoying. The only time I notice it is when I'm rolling to a stop.Almost sounds like a turbo spooling down.If you have a loud annoying whine then I would say you have a problem, not something normal fro all 1800's.
PS There is an easy way to void all noises.Crank the stereo and rip the nob off

If I'da known it would last this long,I'da taken better care of it.

Re: Whining
Alternator. Some are worse than others. When Honda started using the higher output alternator (2006?) the whine got worse. My 2012 is much worse than my 2004 was. May also have something to do with the redesigned alternator drive assembly.

Re: Whining
My '06 whines sometimes so bad it makes me want to trade. But at times you cannot hear it at all. Not sure what it is. I always thought it was the timing chain but if it were others would have confirmed that by now. I have over 98,000 miles on her now and I just put up with it. I have always owned Wings since 1976 but maybe I will go the other route if Honda cannot come up with something other than a little plastic and paint changes. I know it is hard to improve on the best 2up tourer on the market but I thought that about my '89 Wing then they came out with the 1800. It took me 16 years to get the 1800 because I loved the 1500.
