Programming new transmitter for my 2012 GL1800

Hello Riders,

I have 2012 GL1800 which I recently bought without transmitter only key is available. However I walked tot the dealer and bought new transmitter but neither me nor the dealer were able to program it, even though we followed the manual exactly.

any one passed over this or know the solution?????

If you are referring to the key fob that normally comes with the keys, you do realize that all it does is lock/unlock the trunk and saddlebags and sound an alarm when you are looking for your bike in a parking lot, right?

I can close and open the trunk manually by the key but i want to open/close trunk remotely using the remote control.

I can understand that I need the original remote in order to program the second one, am I right?

I understand you DO NOT have the original key fob...the FCC number on the back is what the instructions ask you to check before programing:
"To make sure you have the correct one compare the FCC ID:E4EG8DJ on the back. If the FCC ID matches you have the correct x-mitter "
1) ASSUMING that the dealer ordered the correct part number for year make and model of your bike...the instructions SHOULD work to program/match the key fob to the bike.
2) all I can suggest you find another Goldwing of the same year make and model and see if the FCC number is the same as the one you purchased, then proceed with the programing
3) go to a Honda Auto dealer and see if the service parts dept. can help in the programing

It is important to be sure you have the correct FCC#,s on the back to match to the gl1800. I also heard that a Honda car remote should work. All this said, I would suggest you go to YOUTUBE.COM and do a search for programming a gl1800 remote. I learned from there how to do my car and truck. Not the wing yet.

2012 FCC ID#: OUCG8D-694H-A, IC# 8508-G8D694HA, Honda OEM part #: 72147-MCA-S41.
The remotes for previous years were all the same. They changed it for the 2012. Probably because there were Honda car remotes that worked, and they were a lot cheaper.
