GL 1800 Trunk Lid Removal
Does anyone know of a video or detailed instructions on how to remove the trunk lid on a 2012 GL1800? The trunk liner is not the problem, it is the wiring harness that comes from both front and back and is routed thru the lid. Thanks.

There is a wire harness in the top lid of the truck that is accessed by removing the "liner". There are a number of screws that need to be removed to take the plastic piece or liner out of the top lid. What is the problem with the wiring? It may still be covered under the warranty.

Re: GL 1800 Trunk Lid Removal
I may need to replace the trunk lid. The clear coat cracked after installing a luggage rack and I had it repaired. After I reinstalled the rack, with less torque, the clear coat cracked again. I am considering replacing the lid and trying a different style rack. On the first repair the body man cut the harness because he did not know how to remove it. He re-wired it and everything works, but I do not want to cut it again.

Oh..............I'll look at the service manual when I get home and see what I can find. I think (which usually gets me in trouble) that you need to remove the passenger backrest and the top liner and the wiring should come out.

Thanks. Part of the harness comes from inside the trunk and another part is routed thru the hole in the lid, from the front. They are connected in a bundle, with no apparent quick connect/disconnect. I hope your service manual provides some easy instructions. Thanks.
