1800 Engine Oil Capacity ??
1800 Engine Oil Capacity ??
When I change the oil according to the manual and refill with 3.9 quarts, it checks low on the dipstick. Should I fill to the high mark on the dipstick or just be happy, knowing that I have the correct amount of oil according to the capacity in the manual ?? Please help, I want to do what is correct.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Do you change the filter also? My owners manual says 4.1 U.S. quarts.
Re: 1800 Engine Oil Capacity ??
My 2001 owners manual says 3.9 quarts in the "engine and oil filter" section. What year is yours that says 4.1 quarts? Maybe Honda figured this out?

Fill to the high mark on the dipstick. If it is showing low on the dipstick, then the oil level is low, regardless of the amount of oil added.

Uhhh, 2009. Maybe Honda needed to print a revision for 2001. I doubt they enlarged the capacities. As others said, put in 4 quarts and ride. It is what I did, and do.jlsdcen2 wrote:My 2001 owners manual says 3.9 quarts in the "engine and oil filter" section. What year is yours that says 4.1 quarts? Maybe Honda figured this out?

I assume you are checking the oil while on the center stand and not the side stand?

Re: 1800 Engine Oil Capacity ??
Check the oil when the bike is on the center stand or you will end up putting too much in it. If you've replaced the filter run the engine for few minutes then shut it off
wait few minutes then check the oil dip stick, if its at the top mark then you're good.
If you check the dip stick when the bike is on the side you will see the dipstick bone dry because whole the oil moves to the side of the oil pan away from the stick.
