2013 GL1800 key won't open trunk
Trunk opens fine with electronic fob. Trunk does NOT open actually putting key into the lock and turning it to the right. Shouldn't it pop open using the key?

Honestly I don't think I have ever used the key and mine is a 2004. have you checked the owners manual? What about the dealer as I would expect a 2013 to still be under warranty.
If you turn the key does this unlock the trunk and can you then open the trunk with the lever?

In my owners manual page 45 states:
You may be thinking of the GL1500. Turning the key counterclockwise will pop open a trunk that is already locked.
To open the GL1800 trunk, use the key fob or the handle under the trunk.
No where does it say that the key will open the trunk. The travel trunk and saddlebags can be locked and unlocked with the ignition
key or remote transmitter.
To use the remote transmitter, see page 49.
To unlock:
Insert the ignition key and turn it clockwise.
To lock:
Insert the ignition key and turn it counterclockwise.

To open the GL1800 trunk, use the key fob or the handle under the trunk.

As Mike stated, the key will not pop the trunk. Only the fob and the pull handle will do this. All the key does is lock and unlock.
