Trunk lock
My recently purchased 2001 Goldwingdocs 1800, came with a key food to lock and unlock the trunks. It is more of a pain then anything, and I would like to deactivate the power lock and remote system. What is the best way to accomplish this?

Re: Trunk lock
I really like the key fop remote but everyone has his/her preferences. I do not know but suspect a fuse controls the function and a review of the wiring diagram in the service manual should show what fuse to disconnect or perhaps what wires to disconnect.
Just be sure you don't loose the key.

If you decide to go this route make sure the key will open the upper trunk without the key fob. Some brands are programmed to open the upper trunk with the fob only and the key wont work. But as I get older my fingers work better with the fob than the key.

Re: Trunk lock
Just leave the fob at home, and your system will deactivate in about three months. To reactivate, take the fob to the bike, start the bike and use the fob. Mine deactivates every winter, and must be reactivated in the spring.
