The majority of the comfort system inops are caused by left grip failures.
After you make sure the connector is plugged in under the seat and the connector is plugged in behind the backrest, I'd start with checking the left grip.
There is a lengthy, involved trouble shooting guide in the service manual.

Re: HEATED SEATS & GRIPS
Good luck. It seems almost impossible to find a dealer that knows anything at all about the comfort system.
When I had a problem, I called 4 dealers, one of which told me there was no heating elements in the passenger back rest!!!!! Informed him there most certainly is and you won't be seeing my bike!
One would think if a company is going to have an accessory, such as this, dealers would be trained how to repair. But then I guess you have to be able to read the instructions in the service manual first!!!!!!

If its the seat and the grips I would also check the plug below the dash by the ignition switch. Make sure theres no corrosion and bent pins or pins that have pushed back. The heater controls for the seat and grips run through this connector so I would make sure to take a good look.
