2015 Goldwing intermittent Tire Light

Post by Johnl1941 »

Tire light comes on and then goes out after five min. This summer worked fine I run 41and 41 in both tires above normal for front . Tire started coming on again couple of weeks ago. Tires were within specs but down a little. I run nitrogen. Dealer puts 41/41 in tires and light is I when I pick it up , Service advisor says ride it around lot. I do . Light does not go out . I ride home takes a good 15 min to go out . Tires show 41/41 . I ride back to dealer 7 miles light stays on actually it flashes . Bike at dealer now. Honda rep coming over.
1 is there a reset switch
2 do tires meet to come off rim the sensor switch is under stem and it seems when tires are inflated or stem has Inflation done I have a problem but doesn't happen all the Time any help suggestions would be appreciated. The Tpms light is not on just tire pressure light flashes.
Thanks

It sounds like you have a faulty TPMS sensor, that is reading artificially low.

Your low tire pressure light should flash if the front is below 32 PSI or the rear is below 37 PSI. It should come on solid if the front is below 29 PSI or the rear is below 33 PSI.

If the pressure is set to 41 and it is still coming on, there is a problem with the system, and your dealer should be FIXING it, not saying to "go out and ride around for a while." I assume this bike is still under warranty, get it fixed while it's still under warranty.

Yes, the tires have to be de-mounted in order to get to the TPMS sensors, which are fastened to inside of the rim.

Thanks so much . I informed Dealer exactly what you said . They called this afternoon and said it is the rear tire . They are ordering the part . Won't get bike back for a week . With your help and I guess the Rep showed up. They are doing something. I told them earlier that I thought it was exactly what you said really appreciate your help.

I know you have the issue resolved but was curious. Was it the low pressure light or the tpms light? On my '13 the tpms light has come on for no apparent reason about 5 times since owning it. This indicates there is a problem with the system. When I park for a while and get back on it it is off again. If close I think I will pull into a dealer next time it happens.

Hi in my case it was the tire low pressure Light. The response from Goldwing Docs was excellent. I would Think that if the TPMS Light comes on the system would not work. The Dealer called yesterday and thay have ordered a sensor for rear wheel. I hope this is the answer I will know next week . I have been dealing with this since two days after delivery in March. I will post when I get it back
Thanks for sharing

I do not know what your temps are in Colorado right now, but if they are down there, as they would have been in March, it is possible that the cold had diminished the tire pressure enough to flash the rear low pressure sensor. I know that spring and fall, I have that problem here, but it is getting a bit chilly now, and the pavement is colder still. I keep 41 pounds in the rear, and if I ride a couple of miles, my flashing light goes out. I have had this happen spring and fall since I got the bike, but once the temps get to a "normal" range, it does not happen. Just a thought.

Hello,
I have a 2016 the TPMS light will come on after about the 10 minutes when 35° or lower and go out at around 20 minutes or so.If It Is warmer it works. I have stopped and turned bike off and restarted it stays on. know the TPMS light is the warning for the system. So any info would be appreciated.

I have a 2016 GL1800AC with 400 miles on it. I bought it late last fall and only got in a few brief rides before road salt set in so its been in storage since. We just had another 12 inches so riding is off again.

After two days I started getting intermittent TPMS light indicating system failure, not low tire pressure. To be sure I checked tire pressures and they were/are good. As soon as the salt clears, again, it is going to the dealer for warranty repair. Along with a printout of this thread to make sure they fix it.

BTW, installing a utopia backrest, the bike came with one cross threaded seat bolt. I did not take it back to the dealer but will combine this when I bring it back. Brand new and they ship it with a cross threaded bolt. If only it was built in the USA.

just wanted to raise mty hand and say that I am one of those that have trouble with the TPMS light on my '13. About 4 or 5 times a year it comes on and goes off usually after I shut the bike down and start it or after about an hour or so. I have read that alarm systems can cause this.
