Could trunk control unit cause problem?

Post by sambo2015 »

I have a GL 1800 and the turn signals and the hazard lights do not work, could this problem be caused by a faulty trunk control lock and open unit. I've checked fuses replaced turn signal relays, the turn signal switch. Can't seem to find the problem. Running out of ideas. HELP!!!!!!

It is most probable that you have some wires cut inside the electrical bundles which enter the trunk.
This, at the level of the hinges -and in your case, rather the RH side (when facing FWD)

Please refer to the pictures which are showing where the bundles are originally fitted:

Do not pay attention to the red marks (these are for installing dampers and a light switch): these pictures are just to show how very close to the hinges the bundles are running.
Most of my friends having met cases of wires cut at these locations decided to move the cables to the middle of the trunk as in this last picture.

Some do it as a preventive measure: This is a typical problem on the 1800s

In trusting this message is of assistance

Kind regards,
