Windshield recommendation for 2003 Goldwing 1800

Post by 2Dutch »

My windshield is toast (can't see through it (smokey, streaked, pitted, really bad in rain). Any suggestions on what make/model to replace it with? Let me know your thoughts.
Thanks,
Dutch

I have a national cycle special edition on mine and really like it. Look them up at national cycle.com and read their reviews on wind shields. They are very strong and durable.

That's almost like asking which oil is best. Depends on if you like to look over it or thru it, if you want some air to hit you or none air, vented shield or non vented. Shields run for a little over $100 to over $400. Reviews from riders that own different shields are great but again, your views may vary. Back in the early 90's when I replaced the shield on my 92 the Tulsa was very popular pick I bought one but found it was to tall and slanted back to much, had to be careful every time I got on and off the bike so I didn't hit it with my helmet.

Have to agree joe, I have wanted to get rid of the yellow Memphis Shades screen since the summer last year because I think it looks daft. Reading a plethora of reviews did not help diddly. Have ridden mates wings while out, but half hour on a sunny day did not do much to persuade me. The V Stream that a mate loves and has wanted for ages felt good, but it is bleedin ugly, looks like it was made by a glass blower. High end ones are too expensive to try when one has to have them shipped from the US. A mate has a Tulsa I am going to fit, for the money I reckon I will like it. If I buy a New one it would be the toughness of the Optic Armour or F4 that would seal my choice, Good luck with your choice Dutch

What he said! I have a Tulsa Tall (Vented) and I really like it. IT keeps the wind off and it doesn't not bother me to look thru it. Your results may vary....

I agree that the opinions will vary. I have the F4 clear with a vent. This thing is easy to clean, all you need is windex, and water does blow off. Some of that water does come over the top but not a real problem. I have had the F4 for more than 5 years and I have no complaints.

Just as a sidelight, their customer service and assistance has also been excellent. My first F4 developed small cracks near the vent. I called and they told me how to make a quick repair so I could make my trip. Upon my return home there was a brand new shield waiting for me and all they asked was that I ship the old one to them at their cost.

That kind of customer service is getting hard to find. A piece on my wind wings broke, came from national cycle, and after couple emails said they would send me a replacement and no charge. I didn't buy the wings but bought my bike from them.

I bought a Klockwerks Flare last year and really like it. I like to look over it, and about 75% of the wind buffeting went away. I'm pretty sure if I put it up high enough that I had to look through it....most all the buffeting would be gone.

I went with a Long Ride Sheild Taka made for the Goldwing. it's a recurve design and directs the wind OVER my head. Got the vented option and am exstatic with the results!!
 I know people say we spend too much money on our rides, but I can't hear them when I'm 1000 miles away!

i'm only 5'7". the TAKA comes in an 18" and 22" model i believe. i chose the 18" and set it to the lowest position. i look OVER the top, not thru, however, if i wanted i can raise the shield higher, of course. check out they're site.
