Rear Turn Signal Problem
I am a new Gold Wing owner and new to this forum so I am looking for a little help here! When I turn the key on the right rear signal comes on and the left rear doesn't. When I activate the turn signal switch the right front blinks quickly and the right rear doesn't blink at all. When I turn the switch for the left side the front and left blinks as they should. I was told I had a bad bulb so I installed a new one purchase from a dealership just to make sure I had the correct one. Has anyone ever come across this issue before?

Re: Rear Turn Signal Problem
I've not come across this on GL1800 (I'm a GL1000 owner) but I had similar on my CB750L. Assuming that as you are in the US, your head and tail lights are on as soon as you turn the ignition on, I think you will find that the right rear turn signal has been accidentally connected into the tail light circuit (this was certainly the case on my 750). The bulb is obviously good, as it lights up, but when you turn the right signal on, because the rear signal is not connected to the correct connector, the blinker relay sees it as a blown bulb and therefore flashes the front blinker faster.
Certainly a good place to start looking.

Re: Rear Turn Signal Problem
I may be a bit confused...but you are saying that when you activate your right turn signal...you get a fast flash front light but rear doesn't. That is an indication for a bad bulb...replace the right rear turnsignal bulb. It should be that simple.rjgreen3 wrote:I am a new Gold Wing owner and new to this forum so I am looking for a little help here! Or are you saying that the running lights for the the rear are not working?

Re: Rear Turn Signal Problem
the right rear turn signal light is on all of the time (like a running light) but doesn't flash when turn signal is activated. the left side isn't on (like a running light) but flashes when the turn signal switch is activated. I have replaced the right rear bulb and have the same situation.

Re: Rear Turn Signal Problem
It sounds to me like a ground or wiring issue. Corroded connector in the wiring harness, rubbed wiring, poor ground. Any or all of these could provide your symptoms.

Re: Rear Turn Signal Problem
You've replaced the bulb, so you've ruled it out as the problem. I think your problem could be a bad ground, causing power to feed backwards through that light.
Check that light bulb socket, you'll see a green wire. Using a long piece of wire, connect one end to a known good ground (negative battery terminal will do for testing purposes) and connect the other end to that green wire - you can just push it into the back of the connector to make contact with the green wire. If that fixes the problem, then you know you've got a bad ground.

Re: Rear Turn Signal Problem
You say that you've replaced the bulb, but is it the correct bulb? I had a situation on my 1500 that and incorrect bulb (1156) was installed in a running/brake light fixture and was making contact on both terminals. This made the cruise control think the brakes were on. I know this isn't a cruise issue, just my two cents. Good luck

Check the connector under the seat for bad ground.

Re: Rear Turn Signal Problem
Finally,
When the local dealership was completing the brake recall they inverted the lights on the right side. The bulb for the left side running light needed to be replaced. Spoke with Little John at the Used Bike Emporium where I purchased the bike from. He told me to bring the bike in and he would try to wave his "magic wand" over it. I drove about 20 minutes home; as I walk in the house John calls and says your bike is ready for pick up! My bill was $5.99 which I was glad to pay...
